A LOVE STORY CAPTURED

Sonya: 'Our first encounter was years ago on the train. Ramon had noticed me and gave me a piece of newspaper with his phone number written on it when we got off. I was quite charmed by that and sent him a message. We exchanged WhatsApp messages back and forth, but eventually our contact faded and we never went on a date. A few years later, we ran into each other again; it turned out we both worked at the same - large - software company. We both remembered chatting briefly with each other all that time ago. We clicked so well that we soon became more than just colleagues. Fortunately, that was not a problem at our workplace.'

Meanwhile, we are parents of Yuna (3), expecting our second child soon, and got married last spring. The marriage proposal was very special. Ramon had arranged a hot air balloon ride as a surprise and asked me to marry him high up in the air. And all this despite his fear of heights! That made it even more special.

Our wedding day, May 19, 2023, was truly perfect. It was also our exact ten-year anniversary that day. We were a bit worried about the weather, but luckily it turned out beautifully.

We verzamelden met alle dag gasten bij Van der Valk Hotel Lelystad, waar we ook met een aantal gasten hebben overnacht. De mooie uitstraling en sfeer van dit hotel passen helemaal bij ons we houden namelijk wel van een beetje luxe. Vanuit hier zijn we met een bus naar onze trouw locatie op landgoed Staverden in Ermelo vertrokken.

Our daughter also had a special role that day; she brought us the wedding rings and was a bridesmaid together with her cousin. After a great party with lots of dancing, we took a party bus back to Hotel Lelystad with some of our wedding guests. The next morning, we had a big breakfast and could relax by the pool. That was the perfect ending for us.
