The location in the city center of the cozy Limburg city is one of the reasons that makes this Van der Valk hotel so unique. Moreover, the hotel has its own theater with a varied program. Ideal to combine a performance with a dinner and overnight stay. The theater hall was the first to be renovated and expanded at the hotel. Director Sanne Polman says: 'Two years ago, the theater hall was completely renovated. Among other things, the technology, acoustics, and climate control were addressed at that time. The hall has also been multifunctional since then for events with standing places, because we can easily move the chairs and set up bars. With all the renovations, we paid close attention to sustainability. Thanks to heat pumps, we are now off gas and we chose LED lighting.' After the theater, the rest of the hotel followed. The restaurant and kitchen were renovated, the rooms in the hotel tower all received an upgrade, and almost all the rooms have already been renewed. Sanne says: 'A beautiful Live Cooking area has been realized. This is used for breakfast, lunch parties, and on weekends for buffets. This way, on busier days with theater performances and many guests in the hotel, we can serve everyone even better.'

AMIDST THE GREEN

Enjoying your meal is done in one of the cozy seating areas in Le Jardin, the central space in the hotel. Sit at a high bar or choose a cozy corner on one of the round benches. 'The former large hall underwent a huge transformation. Of all the renovations, I am most proud of this, because Le Jardin has truly become the green heart of the hotel,' says Sanne. 'It exudes so much warmth, atmosphere, and coziness. I wanted green plants as a base, hence the choice of the name. I also found it fitting with

Since the beginning of 2024, the capacity of the hotel has been significantly expanded by the opening of a hotel wing with 44 rooms and a swimming pool. That new part is located directly next to the main building where you walk through a glass corridor. 'There you stay in a piece of history,' says Sanne. 'That building is the former telephone exchange of Roermond. In the middle of the last century, telephone lines were connected there, something that is hard to imagine now. The building has been almost completely stripped and rebuilt, but the characteristic high ceilings and the staircase have been preserved. The rooms in that part, called the PTT hotel, are slightly more spacious than in the main building. We also see it as a boutique hotel within our large city hotel, with cozy lofts and suites with a double shower and a whirlpool bath. In the basement you will also find the swimming pool with relaxation area and a fitness center. That is a really nice addition to our facilities. Later on, we will also create a sauna and steam room there for even more relaxation.' The expansion of the number of rooms was very welcome, says Sanne. Especially on weekends and during holiday periods, the hotel is very busy. 'Designer Outlet Roermond is a major attraction. Because we are close to Germany, our neighbors from the east like to come here on their days off. There is a lot to do in this area anyway. You can enjoy walking and cycling here.
