This year, Van der Valk Hotel Gilze-Tilburg celebrates its fiftieth anniversary. This milestone was celebrated last September with the opening of the atmospheric restaurant Oakroom, where fire and passion for gastronomy come together.

At the location where a motel with less than fifty rooms opened its doors in 1974, today stands a sizable hotel. With a total of 220 hotel rooms, suites, and apartments, 16 halls, a wellness garden, swimming pool, bowling alleys, casino, and more, Hotel Gilze Tilburg is a hotel with the ambiance of a resort. The fiftieth anniversary is marked by the new restaurant under the hotel roof: restaurant Oakroom. Since September, guests can enjoy a unique dining experience here.
PURITY IS KEY
Located in a separate section of the Valk restaurant, Oakroom feels like a hidden treasure. The entrance alone is special. You reach Oakroom's kitchen via the spacious à la carte restaurant. You walk past the hard-working, smiling chefs and through the open luxury steel doors to take a seat at a table. Or linger a little longer at the chef's table to see what's happening on and behind the stove and grill. With a delicious glass of bubbly and some good pata negra, take a seat and take it all in, because there is plenty to see. Here you have front row seats to watch the kitchen team at work with passion. The team certainly got a boost and new energy from the opening of the second restaurant. The driven professionals come together to come up with the best ideas for the menu. Purity is central to this. The fresh ingredients are deeply grilled or subtly smoked over an open fire to achieve the right flavor. Both meat and fish lovers can enjoy tender, robust cuts of meat, such as Tomahawk Black Angus, to the best seafood dishes, such as lobster, langoustine, and turbot. The flavorful cuts are served on sturdy oak boards. Vegetarian menus can also be customized on request.
BRINGING THE OUTSIDE IN
Not for nothing Oakroom was chosen as the restaurant name, referring to the oak. This tree species grows abundantly in the natural surroundings of the hotel in Central Brabant. The main tone of Oakroom's sturdy interior is fresh green, like the leaves of the oak when it is in bloom.

There are rough linen napkins on the table, patterns of trees and deer can be seen on the cushions of the comfortable chairs and sofas, fresh oak branches are placed in cylindrical vases, and the logo with the oak tree is frequently displayed. All details are meant to bring the outdoors inside. Additionally, fire plays a central role in the cozy space. Not only can you see the open fire where the chefs are working, but candles are also lit on the tables, creating an intimate atmosphere along with soft lighting. The thick velvet curtains on the windows also contribute to a feeling of warmth.
SERVICE AND ATTENTION
Since the opening, people have been able to find Oakroom easily. Especially for those staying multiple days at Hotel Gilze-Tilburg, it's nice to have the choice of two restaurants, where at Oakroom you can take more time for dinner. With exclusive wines and drinks that complement the dishes, you can enjoy high-level dining here with the best service and personal attention. Oakroom is also highly recommended for special occasions. Think of a romantic dinner, an important business meeting, or the celebration of an anniversary. Furthermore, it is possible to book the entire restaurant for private dining. Oakroom is open from Tuesday to Friday, and given the restaurant's success, Monday will likely be added soon. Due to its exclusivity and popularity, it is advisable to make a reservation in advance, because you wouldn't want to miss an evening of enjoyment in the cozy Oakroom!
