EMBRACE THE BLUE

A weekend away with the family is always something to look forward to: relaxing, unwinding and enjoying quality time together. Van der Valk Hotel Delft A4 offers all that and more, with plenty to see and do in and around the hotel for all ages

Dutch Upon entering Hotel Delft A4 you immediately see that the youngest hotel guests have been thought of as well. At the kids' check-in, children are allowed to check in themselves and receive a cheerful Timo Toucan bag with, among other things, a coloring page. That's already a good start. Right by the reception you'll also find a children's toilet themed "most beautiful fish of the sea." In the room another surprise awaits: a Twiggy or Timo Toucan plush toy, which of course may later be taken home. The family room with a bunk bed is ideal; cozy sleeping together, yet still with some privacy thanks to the door that can be closed.

QUALITYTIME

In the atmospheric restaurant VdV Dining you can enjoy a lovely lunch and dinner. There is deliberately no play corner, so the focus is on eating together and having a cosy chat. The children can, of course, also play old-school games at the table together with their parents. For the very youngest there is a Timo Toekan play box, while older children amuse themselves with the LEGO box, the Toekan chats or the hotel's own Hotel Delft A4 dice game. That way you enjoy quality time with the whole family.

'EXPERIENCE THE PERFECT COMBINATION OF CITY AND CULTURE'

A little piece of history

The historic city of Delft is about a fifteen-minute drive by car, and that's also a pleasant distance by bike, chopper or e-bike, which you can rent at the reception. At the Royal Delft Museum you can do scavenger hunts and paint your own tile. Or climb the Nieuwe Kerk together for a beautiful view, where William of Orange is buried. In Museum Prinsenhof you can still see the holes left by the bullets that killed him in the wall. That way, during your weekend away you’ll also take a piece of Dutch history with you. From January 2026 you can also see Willem van Oranje, The Musical, at the new Prinsetheater in Delft, an impressive production about freedom and the birth of the Netherlands. Don’t forget to walk through Delft’s most beautiful alley, the Bonte Ossteeg. Here you’ll find a large Delft blue mural featuring important Delftenaren from history, such as Johannes Vermeer and Hugo Grotius. On the Beestenmarkt you’ll find café Kobus Kuch for the most delicious apple pie. Want to get out of the city for a bit? With tram 1 you’re soon in Scheveningen; visit LEGOLAND and then enjoy some fresh sea air on the beach.

BETWEEN CITY AND NATURE

After a day out you can relax in the hotel bar with a good glass of wine and a generous snack platter. The next morning a full breakfast awaits you, including French toast and pancakes. After all, it’s a mini vacation! At the breakfast buffet you’ll also find honey from bees in the hotel’s own garden. That garden has been carefully laid out with an eye to biodiversity. Various flowers, plants and tree species grow there, so insects and birds feel at home. The garden fits perfectly with the surroundings. The hotel is located in Midden Delfland; a fairly unknown but particularly green area in the Randstad. From the hotel you can walk or cycle straight into nature. Also fun: by bike you’re eight minutes from the smallest village in the Netherlands: ’t Woudt. Here you’ll find a cozy tea house and an adventurous Barefoot Path. That way, as a family you’ll experience an unforgettable weekend away with a perfect mix of city, culture and nature.
